We’re officially on the one-week countdown to 2026’s CrossFit Open, this year presented by The National Guard. It’s arguably one of the most eagerly anticipated dates in the CrossFit calendar, and is the first stage in the competition to find “the Fittest on Earth” at the CrossFit Games.

To those who’ve never heard of it, that probably sounds a bit OTT, and even a little bit scary… but anyone who’s been in the CrossFit space for a year or more knows that what it really means is we’re looking forward to Friday Night Lights with big class energy.
The CrossFit Open at CFDW
For the last few weeks, our class programming has incorporated some of the previous Open benchmarks to help our members feel ready, with extra opportunities to dial-in on certain skill training based on some of the stuff we’ve seen programmed in Open workouts before. Ultimately, turning up to class has meant our lot have all been in training for The Open. We just have to wait for the official announcement on Thursday 26 Feb!
The return of CFDW’s Intramural Open
Last year, we introduced CrossFit DireWolf’s Intramural Open – and everyone LOVED it. So of course we’re bringing it back again this year. We’ve got ourselves some 100 participants this time around, and so we’ve recruited a few more of the coaches as team captains.
Introducing:

Teams will be set tasks each week in order to score points for an in house leaderboard; and points mean prizes! Some tasks are very CrossFit-orientated, including the return of the head-to-heads based on each person’s worldwide finish in each workout. Other tasks are a lot less CrossFit-orientated (corn-hole tournament, anyone?)… but all are in the spirit of fun!
Team captain head-to-head
The head-to-heads aren’t just for members. Taking place at the gym immediately after CrossFit’s live announcement, we stay open ’til late, and go Live on Facebook, so our members can watch the coaches suffer for a change while they have their first go at the workouts. Some commented last year saying it was their Open highlight!

“Prove it to yourself, to others, and to the world!”
The beauty of The Open, and we say it every year, is that it isn’t really about the competition. It’s about us all getting together to do something as a community. Yes, for anyone who’s signed up before, there’s a desire to improve on last year’s finish. But what we do here at CrossFit DireWolf means all our members, even the newer ones who’ve only just started their CrossFit Journey can already get an understanding of The Open’s significance. And that is because of our supportive community, and dedicated coaching staff.
