Huge congratulations to our girl Jo McCreeth for her appearance at The Adaptive CrossFit Games by WheelWOD this year – 9th in the world!

“Get Jo To The Adaptive Games”

We were obviously thrilled to find out that Jo’s hard work during The Open earned her a place at the Semi Finals, the second stage of qualifying for the Adaptive CrossFit Games by WheelWOD. Working closely with her PT, Coach James, she took on the virtual competition with gusto and grit, and then BAM, she was set to jet off to Las Vegas for the live finals in September! In order to celebrate, and help get her there, the CFDW pack came together for a sponsored WOD on Saturday 16 August, helping raise over £2.5k in donations to help her cover the cost of travel and insurance.

Going into a competition as prestigious as The Games, knowing you have skills gaps, meant that Jo had a lot of “unknowns” to overcome. But, because of the work she put in both during class and in her PT sessions, she pushed to further develop the skills she’s already worked so hard to obtain, work on her technique with the barbell to better utilise the strength she’s built, and test the limits of her engine to get her the fittest (and readiest!) she’s ever been.

Navigating rig-based gymnastics in the Upper Extremity category was always going to be a challenge, but where Jo really excelled was during “Resilience Rising” with a top five finish on the rower. On to next year, Jo!
