At the turn of the year, Firefighter Aston Everett of Essex County Fire and Rescue Service tragically died while on duty, after suffering an aneurysm. After 16 years of service, he was just a few years short of retirement. He leaves behind a wife and three daughters, who we would like to support during this difficult time.

To raise money for Aston’s family, we are running a friendly, inclusive competition throughout the month of June. It is open to anyone and everyone, with four prescribed workouts to complete by the end of the month. A £10 donation covers entry to the competition.

We are looking to collect enough money to support his family, to ensure that his children don’t go without, to remove the financial burden and enable the family to grieve their loss. The target we have set (£32000) is the equivalent to a Firefighters annual salary.” – Watch Manager Ben Turner, friend and colleague

A great test, and a worthy cause

Each of the workouts will be a test of your physical strength, but is also an opportunity to challenge your friends, support one another’s fitness, and raise money for a truly worthy cause.

Visit the HR4K reception at Colchester Fitness Centre to make your donation and pick up your envelope, which contains your workout descriptions, a scoring sheet, and a laminated raffle ticket. Record your scores on the scoring sheet, and hand it back in at HR4K before the end of June. We’ll collate the scores, and announce the winner afterwards.

The raffle prizes will be drawn at a Firefighter Fancy Dress WOD on the 10th July, which means all entries are valid, no matter where you end up on the leaderboard.

Prizes include:
A Huel Bundle
CrossFit DireWolf club t-shirt
Two tickets to Jason Manford
Six tickets to Forbidden Nights
A voucher for Frinton Golf course
