Our annual Members Only Throwdown is one of the more important dates in the diary at our gym. The CrossFit Kids & Teens kicked off a day of competition under the guidance of Coach Vicky and Coach James. Then, it was the Big Kids’ turn!
Fourteen teams of mixed fours, all in fancy dress, all ready to throwdown over five gruelling workouts:

– 1st –
Roxanne Quartey-Chun, Kate Hallam, Vick Turner, Ollie Gozzett
– 2nd –
Adam Cheeseworth, Jodie Finnigan, Steve Towsey, Sam Prosser
– 3rd –
Daniel Few, Jamie King, Rach Weavers, Omar Taylor
Workout One: “Cobra Kai Never Dies”
What better way to start your competition day than with max effort bike, bench, and ski?! With three separate scoring opportunities in one workout, tactics came into play early on, meaning everyone was firmly in “competition mode” after Event One.
1st Quartey Towers 2nd Townton Abbie 3rd Top Goun
Workout Two: “All In”
A barbell complex consisting of 6x deadlift + 6x power clean + 6x thruster is no joke. Add to that some synchro plate GTOH and you’ve got yourself a pain cave!
1st Quartey Towers // Against All Odds 2nd Townton Abbie 3rd Few And Far BetWeave
Workout Three: “No Mercy”
After lunch, event three saw team get their ropes out for A LOT of skipping. Five rounds of 50 reps to be precise. With some STOH and burpee box step overs thrown in for good measure. A tough workout with a tight timecap – we saw the wheels come off a few times during this one!
1st Biggar And Better 2nd Townton Abbi 3rd Quartey Towers
Workout Four: “Now You’re Gonna Pay”
Time for some synchro rig work in our fourth workout. Our tired teams had to choose an order to send out their athletes one-by-one to take on an buy in of toes to bar or knee raises to smash followed by an AMRAP of wall balls… all while the non-working athletes clocked up calories on the runner.
1st Townton Abbi 2nd Quartey Towers 3rd Biggar And Better
Bonus Workout: “Dog In The Fight”
At any given point during the day, our teams all had to assemble by the rope where a dedicated judge would time each of them as they attempted to dead-hang for the longest time. Shout out to Sam of Townton Abbi and Roxanne of Quartey Towers, who each clung on for over a minute!
Big ups goes to team “Get It Dunn Wright” for winning fanciest Fancy Dress
Callum Wright, Gracie Moore, Abbie Colvin, Georgie Dunn
Lastly, many thanks goes to the athletes for taking part and sharing out the judging responsibilities. And to our event sponsors for giving our lot some CRACKING prizes to chase down: Puma, FitAid, The Defiant Co, Wheyd UK, and Doc Spartan.

Let’s go again next year!?
