Those who made it to Five Lakes this past weekend will understand that it’s actually quite difficult to describe the atmosphere at this year’s European Championships.

So many of our members have recently had their first tastes of competitive CrossFit with our own in-house throwdown and then the Suffolk Games, and with three of our coaches and two of our members competing, Colchester Fitness Centre was pretty excited to see the return of this competition. And it certainly didn’t disappoint!
Coach Sam, Tierney, Coach Mahlon, Sian, and Coach Libby all took on three days of workouts, starting with a run/paddle/run event at the Chigborough Farm lake on Friday afternoon.
The following day, at Five Lakes, the guys took on weightlifting, gymnastics, and then a long, sweaty chipper.
There was just one event on the Sunday morning before the categories were cut to the semi final and final athletes. Coach Sam was through in Male Rx…

… and Tierney was through in Male Novice!

This was a tough competition to qualify for, a tough competition to compete at, and a tough competition to progress through. Having Coach Sam make the Rx Finals is testament to his dedication to his training, and having Tierney not only make the Novice Finals but WIN the category shows his passion, athleticism, and hunger for the sport.
Proud To Be DireWolf
With it being practically on our doorstep, CrossFit DireWolf had the biggest crowd at The European Championships. Our lot were everywhere in the stands as spectators, on the floor as judges, and behind the scenes as crew. And boy did we make a racket!
Sian put it best: Proud To Be DireWolf
